Deering High School Class of 1950 holds reunionSunday, June 26, 2005 Members of the Deering High School graduating class of 1950 met June 17 for their 55th reunion. After an evening meal at McCormick's Restaurant in Kennett, the group went to the home of Jean and Jerry Wright for dessert and an evening of fun and visiting. Many mementos and photographs were brought or sent for those present to enjoy. A thank you gift was presented to the Wrights for their generous hospitality. Letters were read from some who were unable to attend: Lola (Eades) Courtright and Betty Hall. Two members, Bobbie (Averett) Fogg and Don McLeod has passed on since the last reunion in 2000 and were fondly remembered. A memory board was made displaying the pictures of five members who have died since the class graduation, along with class sponsors, Mr. and Mrs. Jonakin. Those members whose spouses had passed away since the last reunion were: Edrie Hart, Cora Davis and Betty (Walls) Hall. Those attending were Gene and Edna Faye (Armstrong) Williams, Bob and Elaine Simmons, Bob Richardson, Elmer and Donna Richardson and the Wrights, all of Kennett. Others attending were Truman and Carol Mayberry, of Corunna Ind., Edrie (Eades) Hart, of Plumerville, Ark., Pete James, of Greenwood, Ark., Ed and Reva (Goodwin) Anderson, of Bonne Terre, Mo., Cora (Autry) Davis and Doughlan and Joan (Pelts) Jones, of Qulin, Mo. On June 18, they met again for breakfast before members said farewell to their many friends and former classmates. All were eagerly awaiting the next reunion. |
